February 16, 1917: “H. N. Aldrich, of the Aldrich-Embody Sawmill Co., who returned the latter part of last week from a business visit to Portland, announced that he purchased additional needed equipment for the sawmill plant in the shape of big planer and log trucks while in the city. When reaching Bend on the return home he made arrangements with Pioneer Auto & Stage company of that city to bring in the new equipment as soon as the conditions of the road between Silver Lake and Bend would permit.
Mr. Aldrich apparently looks for a large number of new buildings to be erected in Silver Lake this year and now has the local sawmill in shape to supply the demand. It is the largest sawmill in northern Lake county and has a capacity of 25,000 feet daily.” (Silver Lake Leader)

Aldrich, who came down from there the latter part of last week to spend several days in town. Several improvements have been made about the mill that materially facilitate the production of lumber.” (Silver Lake Leader)

Suit for foreclosure was instituted in United States District court at Portland. The sale will be made by Robert F. Maguire, master in chancery. Aldrich at the Embody-Aldrich sawmill, the LaPine State Bank being the successful bidder. John Lordquist is in charge of the lumber at the mill.” (Silver Lake Leader and Lake County Tribune)
