Elk City
Continued from: Elk City Sawmill
August 30, 1917: "The Elk City sawmill was sold by Hawkins & Enos to Hawkins Bros., of Siletz, this week. The consideration was not named. Hawkins Bros. have a mill at Siletz, and will operate the Elk City mill steadily on railroad tie contracts." (The Morning Oregonian)
September 14, 1917: "Hawkins Bros. of Siletz have just recently concluded a deal for the purchase of the Elk City sawmill, and are now operating same. These gentlemen also have a lease on the Siletz mill, and will operate it from time to time, always keeping a good stock of lumber on hand for the Siletz trade. The Elk City mill being on the railroad and tidewater will give them better means of handling their output." (Lincoln County Leader)
October 18, 1918: "The Hawkins Bros. Sawmill at Elk City was sold last Friday to the Bigelow Doan Lbr. Co., of Gardiner, they taking over the management of the mill at once.
Messrs. Hawkins and Smith were down from Elk City Friday evening, and Mr. Hawkins said that he had not yet decided just what he would do next, or where he would locate. We would like to see Mr. Hawkins put in another mill here in the county." (Lincoln County Leader)
