September 4, 1943: "Springfield, Sept. 4 - Officials of the C. W. Guerrier Lumber company attempted today to estimate the loss from a fire of undetermined origin which destroyed its sawmill here last night.
The blaze was battled for hours by the Springfield fire department and a truck from Eugene as the big Rosboro and Booth-Kelly mills and Springfield Plywood plant in the same area were threatened. The flames also threatened several smaller mills near the Guerrier plant.
The Guerrier mill was cutting between 60,000 and 70,000 board feet of lumber daily." (Herald and News)

September 4, 1943: "Springfield, Ore., Sept. 4---- Loss from a fire which destroyed the planer shed and stacked lumber at the Guerrier Lumber company mill here last night was estimated today by C. W. Guerrier at approximately $50,000.
The mill proper was saved from the flames but the planer shed was destroyed completely along with lumber piled over a three-acre area." (Roseburg News-Review)
