July 15, 1914: "The L. B . Menefee Lumber company's shingle mill at Milwaukie is still closed as the result of the strike which followed the discharge of a sawyer last Tuesday. A number of employes were working about the mill yesterday but 17 sawyers and packers, members of the Shingle Weaver's union, are still out and the mill is not operating." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
September 5, 1914: "S. C. Tevis, vice-president and general manager of the L. B. Menefee Lumber company of Milwaukie, was fined $50 and costs in the justice court Friday by Judge Seivers. The evidence in the case was heard Wednesday. The state claims that the lumber mill was found that certain changes were needed to safeguard the lives of the employes. The company was given until August 1 to complete the changes. The defense claimed that at a time previous that a committee of three inspected the mill and found that the changes ordered by the state commission were unpractical. The first inspection was made in March and the second in June. The defense claims that the labor commission is trying to force changes which were turned down by the committee. The defendant gave notice of appeal." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
June 3, 1921: "Milwaukie people will be glad to hear that Menefee's shingle mill is to reopen this week providing the river does not rise any more. The mill will give work to about twenty five men." (Oregon City Enterprise)
August 19, 1921: "The Menefee Shingle mill here which has been running about 50 per cent capacity, started full force this morning." (Oregon City Enterprise)
