ROSECRANS SAWMILL
7 miles west of CORVALLIS
March 23, 1917: “Corvallis---The Rosecrans sawmill, seven miles west of Corvallis and which has been closed for several months, will begin work this week, running full time. Recently the company built a flume to the Southern Pacific's Newport line at a point about two miles west of Corvallis and lumber will be flumed to this point for shipment. Until the flume was built the mill could not operate in winter on account of the roads. The logging operations will be conducted by Studbaker & Monanhan, of Castle Rock, Wash. The mill has lumber contracts that will keep it busy for a year. It employs about 25 men.” (Silver Lake Leader)
