TICHENOR LUMBER COMPANY

April 28, 1905: "After a shut-down for 30 days, the Tichenor Lumber Company, of Clatskanie, again began operations on April 1. The company has built a tram road for transporting its logs to the mill, and is installing a road engine for hauling away from the yarder. The company expects to cut about 4,000,000 feet during the present year." (The Columbia Register)
August 29, 1905: "One and one half miles west of Clatskanie is the mill of the Tichenor Lumber Co. the oldest lumbering Co. near Clatskanie. This company is composed of W. K., S. C., and G. C. Tichenor. They have their office in Clatskanie. Their output per day is, on an average, 20,000 ft. of fine yellow fir and red cedar, making a shipment of twenty carloads of the best finished lumber for building purposes. They employ thirty men whose wages average $2.50, making a payroll of $1500. Their logging equipment consists of two yarding donkeys for transporting logs to the rollway and a tram car for carrying them to the mill. The product of this mill goes to Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, and Minnesota." (The Columbia Register)
