FIR LUMBER COMPANY
Josephine County - Bridgeview Road
February 26, 1942: "Jack B. Galland, W. L. Benton and M. F. Tatum, have acquired the old Slack saw mill on the Bridgeview road, and are now operating the mill with a full crew.
They are also making extensive repairs to the mill as they go along and are adding new departments, with the expectation of having a complete mill for all kinds of lumber when fully operating.
The mill is employing six men to start and nine in the woods, but as work progresses they will have to enlarge their number of employees. The planing mill will be a new department for the valley, and will make it possible for local people to buy planned lumber here instead of having to go to Grants Pass to get it."
