March 28, 1917: "Logging operations on the Cartwright property south of Seaside are expected to start in a few days. Equipment has been shipped to Seaside for the Johnson & Moores Logging company, which will do the work. Logs are to be shipped to Astoria." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
April 12, 1917: "The MacGregor, Moores & Johnson Logging Company, of Astoria, has received two large donkey engines and is now moving them to what is known as the Cartwright tract of timber, near Tillamook Head, just south of the old Seaside House. The tract is spruce and hemlock, the former being used for aeroplane construction and the latter for boxes." (Morning Oregonian)
April 26, 1917: "The Johnson-Moores Company has started logging a tract of timber southwest of Tillamook Head on the Cartwright property. Two donkey engines have been moved to the scene of logging operations within the week." (The Morning Oregonian)
