HANSON & LANDON
10 Miles East of Scio
September 16, 1898: "Wanted---Two teams to haul lumber from Hensen & Landron's mills, 10 miles East of Scio. Enquire at Scio Planing Mills." (The Santiam News)
May 12, 1899: "H. D. Landon, of the firm of Hanson & Landon of Salem, was in Scio Tuesday. These gentlemen own a saw mill near Jordan, and Mr. Landon had been up to start things going. They intend cutting a large quantity of lumber the coming season, and if they had better facilities for getting the lumber to the railroad they would double the cutting capacity of their mill. Mr. Landon is of the opinion that capital seeking investment could not do better than to construct a flume from near Jordan to the railroad. He is of the opinion that it would pay well for the transportation of lumber and wood. Such flumes are in use in many places and are good investments." (The Santiam News)
July 21, 1899: "Mr. Landon of the firm of Hansen & Landon, was in Scio this week. In fact he keeps the road between Salem and the company's mill near Jordan pretty hot these days. He is just now getting out some fine lumber for the state asylum, and it is about as nice a lot of lumber as one ever seen. He has several teams hauling from the mills, and the loads they bring out causes some comment by persons who travel the crooked roads in that section of the country." (The Santiam News)
