August 18, 1905: "John Van lost the ends of thumb, and index and second fingers off the left hand by coming in contact with a cutoff saw at Nordby and Wilson's Mill, on Wednesday morning. Dr. R. E. Schmidth dressed the wounds." (The Columbia Register)
