August 16, 1917: "The Harvey Lumber company is putting in a sawmill at Joler." (Morning Register)
August 29, 1917: "The George Harvey Lumber company, which has been operating a sawmill at Aurora for a number of years, is now operating on a tract of timber which it recently bought near Joler, on the line of the Coos Bay branch west of Eugene.
The company has bought the timber on a tract of 160 acres of land owned by C. H. Woodard, of Portland, and P. T. Devereaux, of Eugene, for $17,000, Peterson, Skotheim & Co., of this city, negotiating the deal. The mill was moved to the tract a short time ago, while the deal was pending, and it began to operate before the sale was finally consummated. The timber on this tract measures about 7,000,000 feet.
This company has a big contract to furnish railroad and bridge timbers to an Omaha firm, and it is expected that the timber on this tract will be cut off within a year." (Morning Register)

January 31, 1919: "Victor Davis has received his discharge from the army and is working for the Harvey Lumber company at Joler. He was joined Sunday by his wife and little son, who have been living in Bremerton." (Morning Register)

February 29, 1920: "J. E. Harvey, head of the Harvey Lumber company at Walton, on the Coos Bay branch of the Southern Pacific, was fined $25 at Eugene for allowing sawdust from his mill get into a creek." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
