May 18, 1923: “The Vernonia Mill Co., Mr. O. W. Hodges Mgr., is one bust place in Vernonia. The mill is sawing full blast and turning out lumber by the car load for home use as well as shipping. Many improvements are also being made around the mill and substantial enlargements being made. New platforms being erected and work furnished for many men at good wages. Good grade lumber is being turned out.” (Vernonia Eagle)
May 18, 1923: “The Malmsten timber near town, about 5,000,000 feet, was sold last week to Mr. O. W. Hodges, of the Vernonia Mill Co. We understand the purchaser intends logging it and trucking the logs to their mill here in town. $4 per M was the price.” (Vernonia Eagle)
May 18, 1923: “O. W. Hodges tells us his mill company has purchased another mill to be set up immediately, alongside the Vernonia mill, making it of 75,000 capacity. Workers are now busy enlarging and many more men will be employed as soon as the new mill is finished in a few weeks. December 14, 1923: “The Vernonia Mill Co., operated by O. W. Hedges, has a 25,000 capacity sawmill in Vernonia. This plant was formerly known as the Twin Lumber Co.” (Vernonia Eagle)
