May 26, 1943: "The Powers Davis Lumber company mill here (Lebanon) was strike-bound today by the walkout of 55 CIO employes protesting the firing of a union member.
Don Downing, union president, said the man refused to take over an assigned job, claiming he was not strong enough for it. Downing said the company violated the labor stabilization agreement by not keeping the employe on the payroll while the case was appealed." (Herald and News)

June 3, 1943: "Marvin Kiser had his right arm amputated yesterday at the Lebanon General hospital after it had been caught in a conveyor at the Powers-Davis Lumber Co. mill here during the forenoon.
