November 27, 1924: “The Eastern & Western Lumber company, of Portland, preparing to log its holdings of about 1,000,000,000 feet of timber in the southern part of Clackamas county, awarded a contract to James F. Clarkson, a Portland railroad contractor, for construction of 31 miles of standard gauge railroad for use in bring logs to the Portland mill. The new railroad line will start from and connect with the Willamette Valley Southern railroad at Molalla.” (The Drain Enterprise)
January 3, 1929: "The Eastern & Western Lumber company of Portland turned over to Governor Patterson a deed to several hundred acres of land adjoining Saddle park in Clatsop county.
