July 10, 1924: “The F. N. Harral sawmill, five miles north of town on Cow creek, together with 80,000 feet of sawed lumber and three small residences were totally destroyed by fire late Tuesday afternoon.
The fire originated in a pile of sawdust and by the time help could be summoned the entire building was ablaze and the strong wind had carried the flames to the adjoining lumber yards, where 80,000 feet of lumber was stored.
Three small residences with all their contents were also totally destroyed. There was no insurance on any of the property.
The fire spread to the adjoining timber and a large force of men have been fighting day and night trying to control it. At noon today one of the workers reported the fire surrounded.” (The Glendale News)
