May 1, 1920: "The Leland Lumber company of Leland, Josephine county, to take 2 second feet of water from Brimstone creek, tributary to Grave creek, for stream to be used in manufacturing and for log pond purposes. A dam of log crib will be constructed. Entire cost of construction will be $500; work to begin by November 1, 1920." (Ashland Daily Tidings)
July 1920: "The Leland Lumber Co., Leland, Ore., has appropriated water from Brimstone Creek to form a mill pond at the company's mill in the Leland district, and to be used in supplying the steam boilers." (The Timberman)
