O'BRIEN LUMBER COMPANY
Josephine County - O'Brien
October 30, 1941: "Claude J. Hockett, manager and Riley Cogan, superintendent of the sawmill of the O'Brien Lumber company are planning on making extensive improvements to the mill at O'Brien for the winter's work.
The foundation of the mill will either be repaired or they will move the mill to new foundation in the near future. The plan for the improvements has not yet been definitely settled, but either one or the other will be made soon.
Mr. Cogan recently came back from Stevenson, Washington, where he brought back three truck loads of machinery to improve the present mill and supply parts for repairs.
The mill is working 11 men at present with an additional large crew in the logging end of the business. The company operates four mills in the valley---the O'Brien mill, the Legion mill, the Renfro mill and the mill, the Bridgeview road, formerly operated by the CCC camp." (Illinois Valley News)
