February 22, 1916: "The Allen Shingle company plant at Kenton, has been purchased by the L. B. Menefee Lumber company, which already owns three other shingle mills in this district, one at Milwaukie, another at University Park and one at Kalama. By adding the Kenton plant, the company will have nearly 2,000,000 daily capacity.
The Kenton, University Park and Milwaukie plants are now in operation, their combined daily capacity being 1,500,000. The Kalama plant is idle for the present. The three plants in operation employ about 400 men." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
