February 7, 1874: "New machinery.---A. L. Johnson our enterprising Architect and Builder has added a turning lathe to his planing mills and now he is able to do all kinds of turning in the best and latest style. He has engaged Mr. Ward formerly of Salem and as good a turner as there is in the State to work for him. Mr. Johnson proposes to fill the upstairs of his building with new and first class furniture that will defy competition either in quality or price with furniture of that class in the State." (Forest Grove Independent)
August 27, 1874: "A good chance.---In this issue Logan Johnson advertises his Planing Mills in this town for sale. To any one desiring to engage in this business this is a very desirable property, being situated in the heart of a fine agricultural district and a neighborhood of schools and churches. The machinery is all nearly new and as good as new and the purchaser will doubtlessly find every thing in the condition stated by Mr. Johnson. Come at once and see for yourselves." (Forest Grove Independent)
August 27, 1874: "Logan Johnson's Planing mills have been buzzing with work for the past two weeks." (Forest Grove Independent)
