RAWLEY, C. W., SHINGLE MILL
Foster
February 13, 1931: “C. W. Rawley, of Sweet Home, is preparing to move his shingle mill from Foster to Cedar Flat, on Hamilton Creek, above Berlin, where he will erect the mill on property owned by C. I. Leavengood and manufacture cedar shingles. A devastating forest fire swept through that section some years ago, leaving many dead cedar trees which are said to be fine material for making shingles, and this timber will supply the greater part of the material for the contemplated operations.
The mill is a small equipment which will require three or four men to operate.” (The New Era)
