BRADLEY MILL
7 mi SE Mosier
April 26, 1912: "Perhaps not many people in Mosier realize that we have an industry here that is filling a long felt want, more especially for the people in the hills south of town, who have a long uphill haul from Mosier.
The people in town and for a radius of several miles around, who are in need of lumber, are well served by the Tum-A-Lum Lumber Company, for it has been proven time and again that they can save money by buying their lumber at home. But the people living in the vicinity of the Bradley mill, which is located in the hills about seven miles southeast of Mosier, can obtain an excellent grade of lumber right at home.
Mr. Samuel Bradley, the present owner of the mill, came to this section less than a year ago from Oklahoma. He saw possibilities in the lumber business here and bought the mill, taking with it a number of debts, how many he did not know until later, when they were presented for payment. He realized that he had been 'stung,' but kept right on sawing wood until now he has paid off all the indebtedness and has a large amount of lumber on hand to supply his increasing trade. He estimates that there are now 200,000 feet of good dry rough lumber in the yard, 25,000 feet of it being clear stuff. He also has 75,000 feet in the log yard ready for the saw. As an indication of the volume of business which Mr. Bradley expects to do this season, we are informed that one man will soon place an order with him for 150,000 feet of lumber, to be used in the erection of a residence and other buildings on his property recently acquired from the Sundborg tract.
It is Mr. Bradley's intention soon to install a planer, when he will be able to supply his customers with the finished article." (Mosier Bulletin)
