July 24, 1930: "After being closed down for nearly three years, the old E. E. Johnson sawmill here will start operations again by August 1.
The plant was forced to close when the E. E. Johnson Lumber company went into receivership.
The Coquille Lumber company, a newly organized local concern with capital of $10,000, has taken over the old mill.

August 1, 1930: “The Coquille Lumber Co. was organized in that city last week to operate the E. E. Johnson mill which will give some 35 men employment.” (The Siuslaw Oar)
August 14, 1936: "The Coquille Log and Lumber Co., of which E. E. Johnson is manager, expects to be ready to begin operations at the Sitka mill, below town, on August 25.
For the past three months a crew of from 15 to 25 has been busy rebuilding docks, sheds, etc., setting machinery, and making all the necessary repairs to the plant and it is hoped to have these completed in another ten days.
