DRAPER MILL
Selma > Waldo
October 18, 1900: "Henry Schmitt has removed to Selma and will look after the Draper mill property during the winter. This mill is owned by Welter, Pracht & Schmitt Bros. and employs about 35 men while running. It was shut down for the winter a short time ago but logging will be continued and in the spring the mill will run until all the timber is sawed, then the machinery will be moved elsewhere. This company also operates a mill on Gilbert creek about three miles from town. The force of this mill is somewhat smaller as the lumber is hauled to town direct from the saw. Seventeen men are employed about the mill. The Sugar Pine Door and Lumber Co. handles the output of both these mills." (Rogue River Courier)
