TRAIL LUMBER COMPANY
Medford
July 27, 1916: "Additional machinery and buildings are being added to the plant of the Trail Lumber Company in Medford, and when the mill is fully equipped as now planned it will be able to saw fully 50,000 feet of timber a day. Building material, railroad ties and box shook will be manufactured. A railroad extension of the Bullis line is being considered, and if built will allow of the employment of 300 men on the lumber project." (Ashland Tidings)
November 23, 1916: ""Medford Sun: Work will be started today upon the sawmill to be erected on the Bullis line just west of the Trail Lumber Company. The concrete footings will be put in at once and a two-story sawmill erected as soon as possible so that when the machinery arrives protection for it will be provided. The main building will be 32 by 100 feet. There will also be buildings for the engine and boilers.
The sawmill company secured the land for the site a few days ago and have also secured an option of ten acres owned by E. N. Warner adjoining this 1,350-foot strip along the Bullis track. Three hundred and sixty acres of timber land have been purchased by the company up Jackson creek, largely fir and pine with the latter type predominating. This will give a good start for the mill and negotiations are pending for further purchases." (Ashland Tidings)
