June 26, 1924: “The Anderson & Middleton Lumber company of Cottage Grove has just closed a deal for the purchase of 300,000,000 feet of fir timber in the Umpqua national forest.” (The Drain Enterprise)
July 23, 1930: "The Anderson and Middleton sawmill plant at Latham, one mile south of here, was destroyed by fire tonight at an estimated loss of $200,000.
Included in the estimated loss were the planing plant, lumber yards, offices and residences occupied by employes of the plant.
As the mill was not connected with the new city water line, the local fire department could be of little assistance.

August 1, 1930: “The entire plant of the Anderson & Middleton sawmill at Latham, one mile south of Cottage Grove, was destroyed by fire. The estimated loss is said to be approximately $200,000, which included the mill, planing plant recently operated by the W. H. Daugherty Lumber company, lumber in the yards, offices and residences occupied by employes. The fire originated in the drysheds and is believed to be of incendiary origin.” (The New Era)
