STANWOOD & BRINN
Columbia County - Yankton
January 26, 1900: "Still another enterprise which should be encouraged, is projected for this vicinity. Mr. E. C. Stanwood & Co., will soon begin the construction and equipment of a sawmill a few miles west from St. Helens. In fact, the plant has already been purchased in Portland, and after a few preliminary affairs are settled, the work will begin. Mr. Stanwood has been a very successful logger on Milton creek for several years, and there does not remain a question of doubt that his contemplated sawmill venture will be eminently successful. We have so far been unable to learn the exact location of the mill, but it is said that it will be put where it can easily supply the local demand of Warren, Scappoose, St. Helens and, in fact, all the vicinity hereabouts." January 5, 1906: "Ray Mills went out last week with Win Mellinger to Yankton, where he will take a position in the sawmill of Stanwood & Brinn for the rest of the winter." (Oregon Mist)
