February 12, 1942: "M. J. Breunig of Cave junction with the first truckload of lumber produced at W. B. Barton's new Mill No. 2, a mile and one-half from O'Brien on the Redwood highway. The first run was made on Monday in the new mill. Lumber is hauled to Barton's planer mill in Grants Pass, from there to be hauled to the cantonment site to fill the company's contract for lumber. Breunig stated that Barton has enough timber available to new Mill No. 2 to run it five years," (Illinois Valley News)
September 30, 1943: This mill was included in the sale of the Barton holdings to the Moore Brothers of Bandon and Cape Arago. (Illinois Valley News)
