May 5, 1897: "The Ashland Lumbering Company commenced cutting timber on Neil creek last week. The company will begin sawing lumber about the 20th of the present month. L. C. Washburn and James Colestock have the contract for delivering logs at the mill." (The Ashland Advertiser)
August 12, 1897: "The Ashland Lumber Co., doing a saw mill business on Neil creek, have incorporated with a capital stock of $4000. D. A. McDonald is present, A. C. Gordon secretary, and they and Chas. Hocum, T. E. Hills and James Wilkenson are the board of directors." (Valley Record)
November 14, 1902: “The entire plant of the Ashland Lumber Co. was sold Nov. 10, to E. T. Staples and C. C. Anderson of Boise. Idaho, for $80,000. The deal includes 35,000 acres sugar and yellow pine land.” (Glendale News)
February 21, 1916: "The Ashland Lumber Company will operate their sawmill on Neil creek, eight miles from Ashland, this season and expect to begin work within a short time." (Ashland Tidings)
