SIMPSON & COMPANY
Yaquina Bay
October 18, 1870: "Mr. Simpson writes that the new sawmill of Simpson & Co., on Yaquina Bay, is in good running order, and doing a satisfactory business. Soon after completion a break in the machinery interrupted work, but repairs have been effected and the mill is doing good work. They are prepared to ship lumber 60 feet in length. The mill, when completed will be 50 by 125 feet, with planer edgers, cutter and double circular. The schooner is making progress, but with twelve men at work it will yet be two months before its completion." (Weekly Oregon Statesman)
