September 29, 1905: "One and one half miles north of Clatskanie is the largest mill near Clatskanie. It is the property of the Clatskanie Lumber Co.. It is a mill thoroughly modern in all respects, with a daily output of 40,000 which goes by ship to California and Utah. This company gives employment to about 30 men, thus circulating $1800 monthly. They find that they have more business than they can handle with their present accommodations, so they are decking over their mill and enlarging their yard preparatory to making improvements to the value of between $10,000 and $12,000. The manager is George E. Streeter." (The Columbia Register)
