Jackson County - Siskiyou Summit
January 20, 1920: "Barham Brothers of The Dalles have purchased the timber on a section of land on the Siskiyous located on the Pacific highway. It is stated that some 13,000,000 feet of timber is included in the deal and that a mill will shortly be placed on the tract and that later in the season the brothers expect to build a box factory convenient to this tract." (The Oregon Daily Journal)
February 5, 1920: "The Barham Brothers, who purchased the timber tract on the Siskiyous several weeks ago from E. T. Merrill for the purpose of operating a lumber plant there, have started the construction of a road to their mill site preparatory to building the plant. A large amount of machinery has already arrived and the work of building the mill will start very soon. Messrs. Barhams' mill will be located about two miles back from the railroad, and it is their intention to haul the lumber from the mill by truck to Siskiyou, which will be their shipping point. They expect to rush work at the plant as rapidly as possible and begin operations as soon as the mill is completed." (Ashland Daily Tidings)
February 10, 1920: "E. T. Merrill, of Ashland, Ore., has sold a tract containing 13,000,000 feet of timber on the Siskiyou mountains, a few miles south of Ashland, to the Barham brothers. The new firm has mill machinery on the way, and will erect a sawmill and begin logging operations at once. They are also contemplating the erection of a box factory in or near Ashland. The newly purchased timber is located adjacent to the Pacific highway, and can be hauled into Ashland by auto truck over the highway, which will be completely paved over this section by early summer." (Lumber World Review)

The mill has already turned out lumber to make cabins for the employes, and nine of these have been erected. Sawing for the market will begin in a few days, it is expected. The owners of the plant have been building a road from the mill to the Pacific highway, which they had expected to have finished this week, but owing to the recent rain they have been detained somewhat."
