September 13, 1950: "The F. E. and D. L. McGee sawmill at Fort Rock sawed out several loads of lumber for the Solver Lake lumber company last week." (Herald and News)
April 19, 1951: "The Couch Logging Co. of Bend, moved their equipment into Fort Rock the afternoon of Apr. 0. The F. E. and D. L. McGee Lumber mill started its operations on the morning of Apr. 10. There will be a crew of five men working in the mill: Ralph Webber, edgerman, Leonard Pitcher, turn down, Don McGee setter and John Biedel working on the green chain. F. E. McGee will saw.
