September 12, 1929: "Two shifts were started this week by the Shininger shingle mill. The plant secures logs from the Westwood mill. Paul Shininger, manager reports the mill has many orders and that the price is fair. The extra shift is to be continued as long as there is an ample supply of timber." (Wheeler Reporter)
January 5, 1933: "The Shininger shingle mill resumed operations Monday. After an enforced shutdown of several days caused by the recent storm blowing the smoke stack off the mill and doing considerable damage."
"Goble Shininger came home from the Tillamook hospital Sunday, where he has been under a doctor's care since the scaffold fell when they were repairing the smoke stack on the Shininger shingle mill recently. Goble says he's getting along fine but that it would be some time before his ankle that was slivered will be entirely healed. We are glad to note his progress toward recovery." (Wheeler Recorder)

May 11, 1934: "The Shininger brothers' shingle mill, owned and operated by Frank Shininger and his sons, has been sold to Markham & Callow Logging company. Markham & Callow operate a large logging camp on the coast highway, 12 miles north of Wheeler, where there is plenty of cedar." (The Dam Chronicle)
