August 18, 1899: "Flurher Brothers, the shingle manufacturers of Mayger, have purchased a very desirable water front a short distance above the Mayger Company's wharf, and next fall and winter will commence the erection of a combined saw and shingle mill. The site is most eligible for this purpose. The machinery will be located on a solid ledge of rock, while the mill building and wharf will run parallel to the river. A spur from the railroad will run right into the mill yard, furnishing adequate and easy means of transportation." (Saint Helens Oregon Mist)
September 29, 1905: "Of recent years business enterprises have sprung up, the foremost of which is a shingle saw mill with a daily output of sixty thousand shingles and employing fifteen or twenty men. The mill is owned and operated by the Fluhrer Bros., and under their efficient management has acquired the reputation of a shingle second to none produced on the Coast Shingles made by the firm were awarded the first prize at the Omaha, Buffalo and St. Louis Expositions." November 3, 1905: "Wm. Fluhrer and sons have reopened their shingle bolt camp on Timoney place above town. They will run all winter, but are delayed in getting out their bolts on account of low water for the flume." (The Columbia Register)
