DOUGLASS & COMPANY
St. Johns
May 25, 1903: "The Douglass Planing Mill Company has a plant at St. Johns, which will be extended this year to include a sawmill. Mr. Douglass says he will erect this mill on his grounds this year, and will operate it in connection with his planing mill. He wants to be in position to supply his own lumber so there will be no delays." (Morning Oregonian)
September 3, 1903: "Douglass & Co., who operate a planer in St. Johns, are building a sawmill to furnish lumber for it in order to avoid buying lumber from Washington. The sawmill will cut about 40,000 feet a day. The main building is 200 x 40 feet. Machinery is on the ground and the engine and boiler-house is being built. The St. Johns council vacated some streets for the use of the mill." (Morning Oregonian)
