BOWER & COMPANY
Latourelle Falls area
July 29, 1888: "Hardly any one would expect to find very much activity in the Cascade mountains, but after going back about three miles the traveler comes to the sawmill of Bower & Co. This firm has a small mill now in operation, but has received new machinery for a sawmill with a capacity for cutting 30,000 feet of lumber per day. A flume from the sawmill extends to the railroad and lumber comes down like a flash." (Morning Oregonian)
