November 15, 1945: "The Associated Lumber Company, with J. B. Galland, Sr., Carl Eubank and J. B. Galland, Jr., as owners, are getting their mill in condition to operate. The mill is located across the narrow bridge over the Illinois river near O'Brien.
They have just installed a larger engine which will give the mill a greater capacity. The owners hope to have the mill operating in about 10 days. It will cut approximately 20,000 feet a day when the kinks are all ironed out. They will employ about eight men and will do their own logging." (Illinois Valley News)
