PIONEER LUMBER COMPANY
Lincoln County - Elk City
November 21, 1919: "The Pioneer Lumber Co. has its new mill at Elk City all completed and sawing commenced last Monday. The mill has a capacity of Twenty-five thousand feet per day, and gives employment to twelve men in the mill. Five crews are busy logging for the mill and their boom is overflowing with logs. The mill is cutting for eastern shipment, the first order being for ten cars for Utah points. M. W. Small is manager of the mill, and G. B. McCluskey secretary. The stock is mostly owned here in Toledo." (Lincoln County Leader)
February 27, 1920: "D. E. Londergan was badly hurt yesterday while working at the Elk City Mill of the Pioneer Lumber Co. It seems that Mr. Londergan fell off the loading platform and several huge timbers fell on him. He suffered a broken leg and a fracture of the pelvic bone. Dr. Burgess was called and attended him and he is now resting easy, but it is hard to determine how badly he is injured internally." (Lincoln County Leader)
