January 17, 1907: "W. P. Zumwalt, who was injured in the Eagle Creek Lumber Co's mill at Alspaugh last Friday morning was taken to the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland where it was found necessary to amputate the hand. Mr. Zumwalt had come out from Portland Thursday morning to work at the mill, and had only started to work Friday morning when his hand was caught in the rollers, and badly mangled.
Three fingers and half the left hand were crushed, but Mr. Zumwalt rode to Portland and to the hospital without the attention of a physician." (The Estacada News)

April 4, 1907: "A. E. Alspaugh, through his attorney, G. C. Brownell, has bro't. suit against the Eagle Creek Lumber Co., a corporation, and W. E. Bohn, C. H. and H. F. Linderman to recover money alleged to have been advanced them on a promissory note dated Dec. 1, 1906.
The note is said to have fallen due on March 28, 1907, and it is alleged that no steps have been taken by the mill company to pay it. The plaintiff asks judgment for amount of the note and for $100 attorney's fees.---Oregon City Star." (The Estacada News)
