CAMERON SAWMILL
Cascadia
August 15, 1930: “Clarence Cameron, well known lumber man, who is now operating a small sawmill near Cascadia, has received an order from the Oregon Electric for 15,000 ties, it is said, although the Express has not verified this report. These ties, our information reports, will be used on sectors of railway farther up the valley.” (The New Era)
March 17, 1932: "The saw-mill at Cascadia which was operated under the name of 'The Cameron Mill,' and which has been idle for the past year will start running as soon as the mill can be put in shape.
The machinery which was owned by Edgar Smith and Charles Hazzard, of Portland, has been sold to Vance Bunch a Portland mill man. Mr. Bunch, with his father E. F. Bunch and brother Ben Bunch, are at work now getting the mill in running order.
The capacity of this mill is about 15M feet daily. Mr. Bunch states he has orders to keep running steady.
With the Cascadia, Rice and S. B. Sawyer mills going, about 60 men will be given employment.
The payrolls of these three mills will bring nearly three thousand dollars a month into our community. This ought to help some." (The New Era)
