January 3, 1903: “Johnson and Slayter have their 10-horse sawmill ready to run. It is about a mile this side of Blachly and will use a band saw. It may be running before this writing, as all the proprietors were waiting for was the saw, which had been ordered.” (The West)
March 3, 1905: “Johnson & Slayter, the Blachly saw-mill men, have bought the traction engine formerly owned by Seth Simmons and expect to run their band saw with this engine and the one they had first, at the same time, thus doubling their power. They sawed 125,000 feet of lumber last year.” (The West)
August 4, 1905: “Johnson & Slayter's mill at Blachly burned down last Sunday night with all its contents. Johnson went to Junction and was the owner of another mill within two days.” (The West)
