TYGH VALLEY TIMBER COMPANY
Tygh Valley
September 20, 1950: "Fire swept through a planer shed of the Tygh Valley Lumber company early today, causing an estimated $125,000 damage to the planer and other equipment.
A hundred volunteers joined the mill's fire truck, the Tygh Valley city truck and another truck from Dufur in fighting the flames after the fire broke out at 6:25 a.m.
The night shift had worked in the shed until 3 a.m., but the cause of the fire could not be determined immediately. It was first spotted by a company employee working in a nearby boiler house." (Medford Mail Tribune)
