WAGGONER BROTHERS
Benton County - 2 mile west of Monroe
August 21, 1900: "The large sawmill near Dusty, owned by the Waggoner brothers, was destroyed by fire last week. The fire originated in the fire box. Besides the mill, over $100 worth of lumber was burned. There was no insurance." (Corvallis Gazette)
August 23, 1900: "Fire Friday night destroyed the hardwood sawmill of Waggoner Bros. situated two miles west of Monroe. The mill was shut down at the regular hour and when the fireman came Saturday morning to heat the boilers, a mass of ruins met his astonished gaze. About 5000 feet of oak lumber was also destroyed. The cause of the fire is unknown. No insurance was carried by the firm, and the loss will be very heavy to the owners, since this was only the second season's run for the mill." (Albany Weekly Herald)
