FANTON SHINGLE MILL
April 19, 1906: "R. Fanton was in Monday from his shingle mill eight miles east of town. Mr. Fanton makes the very best cedar shingles on the Coast. Shingles from his mill took the gold medal prize at the Lewis and Clark Fair last year in competition with the product of 16 other states. He will supply the shingles for Estacada's new school house." (The Estacada News)
March 28, 1907: "One of Mr. Fanton's horses was disabled a short time ago and in order to continue delivering those fine shingles which his mill is known to turn out he was compelled to buy another horse." (The Estacada News)
February 20, 1908: "Reuben Fanton has bought 40 acres of land near his home. The land has plenty of cedar on it, and Mr. Fanton's mill will soon be turning out as fine shingles as ever and plenty of them." (The Estacada News)
