SUGAR AND WHITE PINE COMPANY
Josephine County
August 4, 1922: "Work has been started on the planing mill of the Sugar and White Pine Company, near the junction of the Southern Pacific and C. and O. C. railways. The plant is being erected by Portland lumber men who plan to buy the rough lumber from Josephine sawmills and work it up into the finished product. It is expected to have the first unit of the mill in operation within two weeks.
E. C. Dryberg is to be manager of the new company and is now on the ground superintending the construction work. Twenty acres have been secured which will be used for drying and storing the lumber. Additions will be made to the mill from time to time and it is expected that the plant will be able to care for a large per cent of the lumber cut in the county." (Grants Pass Daily Courier)
