September 1, 1920: "Marion griffin, 49, died this morning at 5 o'clock at Keno as a result of an accident yesterday afternoon while unloading logs.
Griffin, who was an employe of the Stewart-McCullum mill at Keno, was unloading logs when one of the logs rolled on him, breaking six ribs, his back and crushing his skull. The accident occurred about 2 o'clock.
Dr. E. D. Lamb was called to attend the injured logger, but his hurts were too serious to leave hope for medical aid.
The deceased man leaves a wife and six children in Grants Pass. Mrs. Griffin was notified of the accident and left Grants Pass yesterday at 4 o.clock arriving at Keno at 11 last night. She made arrangements for taking the body to Grants Pass." (The Evening Herald)
