STONE AND CUMMING
Pleasant Home
February 4, 1900: Stone and Cumming donated 1000 feet of lumber for the construction of a new creamery in the community. (Sunday Oregonian)
February 4, 1900: "The milling company of Stone and Cumming, at Pleasant Home, is intending to move its sawmill this spring to Bear creek, about four miles east of the present location. The firm will build a flume along the creek to the Sandy river and float the ties down the river, instead of hauling them to Troutdale. This method of getting the ties to Troutdale is considerable cheaper than the other way." (The Sunday Oregonian)
February 16, 1900: "Stone & Cummins are clearing up a new site on which to move their sawmill, which is about two miles east of Pleasant Home. They will have quite a body of timber, but will have to saw out a lot of lumber and build a plank road for two miles. They wanted Clackamas county to assist, but the commissioners declined to do so."
