August 26, 1943: "The Springfield branch of the Huntington Shingle company is closed all this week, since it obtains power from the Booth-Kelly mill. Some of the shingle mill's 30 employees are working at the Mapleton mill during the shutdown in Springfield.

February 24, 1963: "AD: Huntington Shingle Company has played an important part in Lane County's progress since 1924, when the mill was started at Mapleton, and with the construction of the present Springfield mill in 1951. Besides the production of red cedar shingles, Huntington Shingle Company manufactures many thousands of feet of rustic cedar siding and paneling. These Lane County products are shipped throughout the United States. At the present time, Huntington Shingle Company gives full-time employment to over 100 men." (The Eugene Guard)
