Douglas County - Cow Creek

May 3, 1907: “J. Pickett, of Canyonville, and W. S. Booth will establish a saw mill on Cow creek. Work will commence at once and the mill will be situated on Mr. Booth's land close to his home. The machinery will be brought from Mr. Pickett's mill at Canyonville, which has served its purpose in that locality. A large amount of timber is tributary to the proposed mill and though the mill will be of a large capacity there will be enough timber to keep the machinery humming for several years to come.” (The Glendale News)
June 21, 1907: “Booth & Pickett's mill on Cow creek will in a few days begin sawing lumber, much work having been done on the enterprise during the past few weeks.” (The Glendale News)
July 19, 1907: “Booth & Pickett's saw mill on Cow creek has been run with vim of late and they will probably begin hauling lumber to Glendale in a few days for shipment by rail to other points. Thus is Glendale ever marching to the front and the movement is still hardly begun.” (The Glendale News)
October 18, 1907: “Messrs Jas. Pickett and Jas. Booth butchered a beef well down on the Umpqua slopes. The beef was brought by a pack team to the Booth and Pickett saw mill on Cow creek.” (The Glendale News)
