HAMMOND-TILLAMOOK LUMBER CO.
Garibaldi
August 1, 1929: "Arrangements are being made at the Foss camp of the Hammond Tillamook Lumber company to operate another 'side.' Two sides or units are now in operation. Guy MacLeod, in charge of fallers and buckers, reported Wednesday that the company was to increase its crew of fallers buckers, these are paid by the 'bushel' and earn from $6.50 to $10.00 a day, he stated. The payroll of the camp will be materially increased by the addition of another unit. A crew is being assembled this week. Workmen have excellent living conditions at Foss or can live in any part of the adjacent territory motoring to and from work on a good road." (Wheeler Reporter)
May 11, 1933: "While working at the Hammond Lumber Co. camp near Foss, this morning Chas Downie had the misfortune to have one of his hands badly crushed. He was taken to Tillamook where we understand the member was amputated. George Downie accompanied his father to the hospital." (Wheeler Recorder)
